What Turning 65 Utah is, and is not
An educational website with one job: make the Medicare-at-65 decision understandable for people in Utah who are still working, retiring early, or facing the income surcharge. We publish the rules with the numbers, put the calculators in your browser, and refer you to an independent advisory firm when you want a conversation.
Our mission
Utah turns 65 on a schedule set decades ago, and most of the people doing it are still working, still contributing to an HSA, or still two years from the tax return that will set their first Medicare premium. The rules that govern that moment are federal, precise, and badly explained. A single wrong assumption — that COBRA counts, that Part A is harmless, that a bonus at 63 is nobody’s business — costs real money every month for the rest of a life. Our mission is that no Utahn makes that decision uninformed.
Editorial standards
Every figure has a source
Premiums and surcharge tiers come from CMS and Social Security; enrollment rules from Medicare.gov and the Code of Federal Regulations; HSA rules from IRS Publication 969. Pages cite their sources where the figures appear. All year-dependent numbers live in one labeled block and are reviewed each November (when CMS announces) and January.
Tools you can audit
Every calculator runs in your browser. Nothing you type is transmitted or stored. Each one states its formula and shows worked examples computed by script so you can check them.
Both sides of every choice
Sometimes the right answer is to delay Part B; sometimes it is to enroll and drop the employer plan; sometimes an Advantage plan is the better fit. We say when, and we say what the trade is.
No invented anything
No stock-photo team, no fabricated reviews, no imaginary office. This is a service-area business covering all of Utah by phone and video.
What we are, and are not
We are an educational and referral website. We are not an insurance agency, and we do not sell Medicare Advantage, Medigap, or Part D plans. We are not a law firm, a tax preparer, or a registered investment adviser, and nothing here is individualized advice. We are not affiliated with Medicare, CMS, the Social Security Administration, the State of Utah, or any employer named on our Utah pages.
How this site makes money
When you request a consultation, your contact details are referred to an independent, third-party advisory firm, and we are compensated for that referral. The consultation costs you nothing and our fee is not added to anything you may later pay. The full explanation is in our Referral Marketing Disclosure.
